Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 1, episode 9.The MCU introduced a second Blip, this time created by Mayor Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again instead of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Daredevil: Born Again season 1’s finale ends the first part of Matt Murdock’s first MCU series on a hopeless cliffhanger that places the odds in Wilson Fisk’s favor. At the same time, Fisk is clearly growing overconfident in his position, which leads him to make risky decisions such as reactivating his illegal businesses and murdering his rivals with his own hands.
There are several parallels between Wilson Fisk and Thanos. Both MCU villains profess improvement for society and present themselves as the leaders who can achieve it, but both are also aware that their ideals are only a facade for their ambition. When things don’t go their way, Fisk and Thanos take matters into their own hands and brutalize their enemies, discarding their discourse for the sake of revenge. As fate would have it, Thanos and Wilson Fisk are among the few Marvel villains who’ve claimed victory once the credits roll. Just like Thanos, Wilson Fisk’s victory probably won’t last long.
Daredevil: Born Again Introduces A Street-Level Blip In The Form Of Mayor Fisk’s New York Blackout
The MCU Skipped The Best Part Of Mayor Fisk’s Blackout And Thanos’ Snap
In the Daredevil: Born Again finale, Mayor Fisk launches a city-wide blackout with no warning, and he sends his police task force to apprehend civilians and blame their own crimes on vigilantes. Daredevil: Born Again episode 9 sees Daredevil assemble a small army while Punisher, Swordsman, and other political opponents of Fisk get captured and incarcerated by Fisk’s task force. However, the Daredevil: Born Again finale fast-forwards to the following morning without showing any other event that happens during the blackout. A few years before, the MCU glossed over the events of the Blip between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2: Cast, Production Status & Everything We Know
Fear not, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is already confirmed to be coming after the first season, and here is everything we know about it thus far.
Similarly to the Blip, Mayor Fisk’s blackout is the perfect breeding ground for crime and the clearest opportunity for all New York heroes to defend the city. While Daredevil and the Punisher face Fisk’s forces, other heroes like Spider-Man, Kate Bishop, and the Defenders must be busy keeping things under control in their own corners of the city, fighting regular criminals and members of Mayor Fisk’s task force. Likewise, multiple heroes must have starred in several movies and shows’ worth of battles in the five years between Thanos’ Snap and Hulk’s Snap, but the MCU has yet to revisit those years.
Which Characters May Be Active During Daredevil: Born Again’s New York Blackout
All New York Vigilantes And Other MCU Heroes Might Be Fighting Crime During Mayor Fisk’s Blackout
Although Daredevil: Born Again doesn’t acknowledge them, New York is full of heroes and vigilantes who must be active during the events of the Daredevil: Born Again finale. Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s ending confirmed Peter Parker is focusing almost exclusively on fighting street-level crime as Spider-Man, and Hawkeye officially named Kate Bishop the new Hawkeye. The Defenders haven’t appeared on screen in years, but Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist must also be busy defending their respective neighborhoods during Daredevil: Born Again episode 9.
Prior to the events of Thunderbolts*, some of the titular team’s members may already be in the city
Back when Netflix was in control of Marvel’s street-level properties, a Colleen Wing and Misty Knight spinoff show was conceived. Daughters of the Dragon never happened, but Misty and Colleen did team up in Luke Cage season 2 episode 3, and they likely remained a team afterward. Since the events of Echo and Moon Knight, Maya Lopez and Marc Spector might have also traveled to New York, and prior to the events of Thunderbolts*, some of the titular team’s members may already be in the city.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Could Have More Cameos Than Expected
Daredevil’s Final Team Could Be Bigger Than Anybody Thinks
Daredevil’s army of rebels is currently limited to regular citizens and a couple of police officers, but Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is likely to bring other characters into the mix. The Defenders are very likely to help Daredevil in season 2, and other street-level heroes like Echo, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, and Claire Temple a.k.a. Night Nurse could join Matt Murdock’s ranks. But apart from the team Daredevil may assemble to take down Mayor Fisk, there are other heroes who could go out of their way to seek out Daredevil and oppose Fisk as well.

Where Is Spider-Man In Daredevil: Born Again And Why Tom Holland’s Marvel Hero Didn’t Appear In The Finale
Despite the incredibly landmark events that unfolded in New York City in Daredevil: Born Again season 1, Spider-Man was completely absent.
Marc Spector, Kate Bishop, Clint Barton, Yelena Belova, John Walker, Alexei Shostakov, Ava Starr, and Bucky Barnes himself may want to help in the battle against Mayor Fisk. Daredevil: Born Again‘s post-credits scene suggests the Punisher and the Swordsman will break out of Fisk’s cages on their own and join Daredevil. Meanwhile, Spider-Man must be facing the city’s political crisis in his own way, as he won’t be able to appear in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 due to copyright issues. However, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could include a flashback where Spider-Man briefly appears to help Daredevil and his team.
