Apple TV+ has some exciting series, and Silo has now become one of my favorites on the streamer alongside shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking. Season 1 did a great job of introducing the series’ world, with Rebecca Ferguson’s Juliette Nichols desperately trying to find answers to the mysteries that lie in the silo. The show follows 10,000 people who live in an underground silo several years after an unknown event made the surface of the Earth uninhabitable. The dystopian series is dark, and season 2 does a great job of pushing things further after a gripping first season.

Silo season 1 ended with Juliette doing something no one had ever done before. The character was sent outside to clean the silo’s camera against her wishes. However, she decided not to clean and also went over the hill outside to venture into the unknown. As no one had ever done those things before, those watching Juliette back at the silo had strong reactions to her decision. Silo season 2 builds on that, showing what Juliette ended up putting in motion back at her silo and what the character is up to outside.

Silo Season 2 Raises New Questions
After discovering there are several other silos out there, Juliette makes her way to one of them in season 2. Ever since the other silos were shown at the end of the first season, I wanted to see how different the others were from the one that we followed. There are many interesting questions that come from that, as each silo could have a different organization or culture. The silo that Juliette explores in season 2 is certainly very different from the one we know and that is in itself exciting.
Season 2 adds a few exciting new characters, and none caught my eye more than Steven Zahn’s Solo.
One of the most interesting characters of the series happens to be in this silo. Season 2 adds a few exciting characters, and none caught my eye more than Steven Zahn’s Solo. The character has a shocking backstory, and his interactions with Ferguson’s Juliette are my favorite part of season 2. Solo is a quirky character who is quite mysterious and knows more than he lets on. Through his debut, Juliette discovers some interesting information about the various silos, including her own.

Before finally reaching a well-rounded closure, Juliette’s story goes through many ups and downs, highs and lows in Hugh Howey’s original Silo books.
Ferguson has been great in everything I have seen her in. That is no different in Silo season 2. While Juliette is a more physical character, not saying much a lot of the time, Ferguson always manages to make whatever is on her mind very clear through her facial expressions or body language. The actress has full command of the character, and that helped me connect with Juliette as she explored a new location. Due to her experience in Mechanical, Juliette is a resourceful character, and season 2 shows the full scope of that.

Juliette’s Absence Lights A Fire In Her Silo
Juliette’s decision not to clean is a game-changer for the series. It allows Silo season 2 to explore new locations while also setting up many events in her original silo. Because Juliette was the silo’s sheriff, her actions carry weight for the future of her community. People want to know how Juliette was able to walk over the hill and whether she is still alive or not.
That setup is perfect for one of my favorite aspects of the series. While most of the silo’s citizens have no clue about the bigger picture, there are a few who do. Robert Sims continues to be my favorite character of Common’s, and Sims again plays a major role in season 2 as he and Tim Robbins’ Bernard have to grasp the meaning of Juliette’s actions and how to keep the citizens in line after that. Silo‘s political aspects and power games are as intriguing as the mystery behind the silos’ origin.
From a technical standpoint, season 2 is just as impressive as the first. Apple TV+ always delivers stunning visuals for its sci-fi series, and Silo is a testament to that. Be it through the imposing size of the silos or the barren wasteland that Juliette finds on the world’s surface, every new location feels real and a distinctive part of the story. With pitch-perfect VFX, the world of the show is immersive. Silo season 2 somehow manages to be even better than the first season, and fans are not ready for some of its shocking twists.
Silo season 2 begins streaming on Apple TV+ on November 15, with new episodes released weekly.
