The Sims 4: 10 Sim Age-Ups From EA That Make Absolutely No Sense

Growing up can be quite shocking in The Sims 4. A vast majority of Create A Sim items are exclusive to only one or two life states. EA tends to make story Sims with just their default age in mind. However, all premade Sims have consistent genetics programmed in, meaning that they will undergo some dramatic changes when reaching stages like child, teen, and elder. This ranges from strange proportions and odd fashion, to hidden beauty and near clones.

Facial features and body shape are predetermined for all Sims, but hair and clothing can be randomized. The more TS4 expansions you own, the more variety an aged-up Sim has, for both better and worse. Custom content can also affect aging up. Realistic Sims 4 mods that alter genetics or fashion can drastically change how any Sim ages up. If you want to see how a premade Sim is meant to grow up, it would be a good idea to make a save with mods fully disabled.

10 Takama Aether Of Ravenwood

Raven Never More

As one of the few children in the TS4: Life & Death expansion, Takama Aether sports several crow and bird outfits in his daily attire. This is a tad morbid as his father, Kai Aether, becomes a playable ghost after interacting with a pet crow. It becomes a question whether Takama always dressed this way, or if it is some kind of coping mechanism.

While older life states can access crow clothes, this is completely random on age up. As a teen or older, Takama is likely to pick any sort of fashion for the rest of his life. Was the crow just a phase, or did Takama lose connection with his father? You can, of course, take the Sim to a dresser and rework all his clothes.

9 Orion Michaelson Of San Sequoia

Have You Seen This Child?

Infants were only added with the patch for TS4: Growing Together. Prior to this, the youngest Sims were toddlers. This results in Orion Michaelson being the poster child for the whole infant life state. Therefore, you have to play for a long time or set lifespans to quick in order to meet Orion as an adult.

Since Orion begins all saves so young, she has likely completed many infant milestones. But, she is a clean slate for any teen or adult traits. How an older Orion acts in one person’s game can be completely different from your own.

8 Christie Sigworth of StrangerVille

The Widest Grin

As an adult, Christie Sigworth winds up with stretched facial features: large eyes, brow, mouth, and ears. While this would be fine as a standalone Sim, it becomes more obvious that she shares nothing in common with her parents, Jess and Dylan Sigworth. When she’s aged up, it seems as if her chin never grows, maintaining childlike proportions.

The Sims 4’s Neighborhoods Still Have A Huge Immersion-Breaking Problem

The Sims 4’s neighborhoods still have a huge immersion-breaking problem that only exists because of an outdated restriction that shouldn’t be there.

This can play into the scenario of TS4: StrangerVille, though. Perhaps being so close to the Mother Plant has affected the way the residents age. You could leave making over Christie until after the town mystery is solved.

7 Jayden Price Of Copperdale

Sidney Price’s Stunt Double

Brothers Jayden and Sidney Price begin TS4: High School Years as different ages, child and teen, respectively. However, when playing on normal life spans, both will attend Copperdale High together for one full week. This is similar to sitcoms that eventually promote the younger sibling to the main character.

While Jayden should have some characteristics of his older brother, it is possible for him to wear identical or similar hair and clothes. Thankfully, Jayden doesn’t have the same active or overachiever traits of Sidney. This makes it easier for him to develop his own identity.

6 Venessa Jeong Of Del Sol Valley

Blue Is The New Green

While the most remarkable changes occur from aging between child to teen, a few Sims stand out as elders. Hopeful superstar Venessa Jeong from Get Famous, one of The Sims 4‘s best content packs, is one of them. For the most part, all elders develop fully gray hair, even those with vibrant dyed hair like Ash Harjo and the Behr sisters. But, even in old age, Venessa retains two visible blue streaks.

This is probably an oversight of the graying effect: Venessa’s former green streaks turn blue as an attempt to fade to another color. For story purposes, maybe blue really is her natural hair color, and she is trying to maintain a shred of her youth. However, some EA promotions show that Venessa has natural brown hair.

5 Alexander Goth Of Willow Creek

A Hardy Nemesis

While there is some randomness, Alexander Goth usually goes bald as a teen. It is a clean shave, so it seems to almost be by choice. This is a little out of nowhere for most Sims players. But, in the Nintendo DS version of TS3, Alexander would wear hats that would conceal his hair, giving him a bald appearance.

Besides the hair, Alexander could also ditch his black clothes and his glasses. This can make it extremely hard to recognize who he is. If you want to maintain the Goth family look, consider giving him a makeover.

4 Tomi Markovic Of Tartosa

Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi

Tomi is the prototypical Hollywood “beauty hidden in bad clothes.” As a child, she wore one of the TS4’s worst items: a hair-concealing baseball cap. As a teen, Tomi doesn’t really have a glow up, instead looking like an accurate older version of her past self.

But, with so many mishaps and bad genetics, aging up without drastic changes is almost a miracle. There is a chance EA actually designed Tomi as an adult and aged her down, or at minimum, used the in-game genetics to give Mateo and Lucia Markovic a real daughter.

3 Amy Prescott Of Copperdale

Third Street Snitch

Similar to Christie Sigworth, Amy Prescott keeps a child-sized chin and jaw when aging up. Her typical choice of short red hair has resulted in many TS4 players comparing her to Randall Weems from Recess. It also doesn’t help that Amy tends to assist her mother, Copperdale High Principal Mei Prescott.

In The Sims 4 close friends and loved ones can be invited to move in. Some homes are better catches, especially if you want the place to yourself.

While she doesn’t particularly resemble Mei or anyone else in the household, Amy’s genetics might not be completely random. In the family bio, Mei’s husband passed away and there is no corresponding ghost. You can imagine Amy is really the spitting image of her father.

2 Orange Bailey-Moon Of Del Sol Valley

The Six Billion Simoleon Man

Children in TS4 have no muscle definition or mass. But, they can still carry the genetic coding for when they age up to teens. This happens to Orange Bailey-Moon, who becomes Del Sol Valley’s He-Man right on his birthday. The funny part is, Orange tends to prefer painting, music, and just socializing over motor skills.

Still, you can embrace Orange’s physique and make sure he joins the football team or becomes a lifeguard. His famous parents, Thorne Bailey and Octavia Moon, might want Orange to focus on acting and taking over the neighborhood, though. Thankfully, action stars are a big part of TS4: Get Famous.

1 Lucas Munch Of Windenburg

Cultured Low Brow

Lucas’ goofy charm often becomes more unsettling as he ages in The Sims 4. His extremely light blonde hair can often make it seem like he has no eyebrows during certain animations and camera angles. He also doesn’t help that Create A Sim lacks eyelashes without the use of mods.

Additionally, Lucas seems the most prone to adopt fashion from multiple expansions, making his wardrobe completely mismatched. This is often the case for premade Sims released before The Sims 4: Seasons, where hot and cold weather items are an afterthought. Like others, a trip to the drawers will be needed.
