The White Lotus star Natasha Rothwell reveals why her character, Belinda, will be back in season 3. Rothwell previously portrayed Belinda in The White Lotus season 1; she was the spa manager at The White Lotus’ Maui location. Though the series features a largely new cast every season, the character will return for the upcoming White Lotus season 3. In addition to Rothwell, the season 3 cast includes Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Walton Goggins, and Carrie Coon. The show will return on February 16, 2025.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rothwell revealed that Belinda still works as a spa manager at The White Lotus, but will embark on a work retreat to learn about the wellness programs that the Thailand location offers. Therefore, instead of being a hotel employee, like she was in season 1 of the series, Belinda will be a guest in The White Lotus season 3. Read Rothwell’s full comments below:
She’s still working at the White Lotus, and she’s in Thailand doing sort of an exchange program to learn more about the wellness programs that the Thailand White Lotus offers. She’s going to be a guest for the first time, even though she’s taking classes and it’s a work trip. She’s staying at the hotel, which is something that she hasn’t done before, and so we get to see her really dip her toe in the other side of life of the upstairs/downstairs of White Lotus.
She’s like, ‘Oh, someone’s going to come in and clean my room and I don’t know them?’ She gets a firsthand look at some of the things that I think went unnoticed by her [in] season 1. It’s a really cool exploration of status and her journey and reconciling the fact that her dreams of owning the spa never came to fruition, so what do you do? ‘I’m going to pick myself up and learn something new,’ and still grow in her own way.
Belinda Will Be A Major Character In The White Lotus Season 3
Rothwell is the only cast member from the previous two seasons who is returning for The White Lotus season 3. Therefore, Belinda will likely have a much larger role than she had in season 1. In the first season of the show, Belinda often shared the screen with Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya. Tanya instantly felt a connection to Belinda and eventually offered to invest money so that she could open up her own spa. However, at the end of The White Lotus season 1, Tanya suddenly backed out of the deal, crushing Belinda’s dreams.
Rothwell’s recent comments reveal that Belinda is still picking herself up from the disappointing events of The White Lotus season 1. Traveling to Thailand will be the first time that Belinda puts herself out there professionally since Tanya decided not to invest in her spa in season 1. Belinda may be in a slightly vulnerable place, which could lead to some interesting encounters with other characters in The White Lotus season 3.

Rothwell’s comments prove that the events of The White Lotus season 1 still weigh heavily on Belinda. This connects the upcoming season to the show’s previous outings, and proves that Belinda will be embarking on a journey of self-discovery in The White Lotus season 3. Seeing her as a guest rather than an employee will be very interesting in season 3. Hopefully, Belinda will have a happier ending this time around than she did in The White Lotus season 1.
